Has your child ever collected the freshly laid eggs straight from the chicken coop, or even better, has your child ever seen a chicken coop with its own eyes? Has it ever harvested ripe tomatoes straight from their stem? Has it ever smelled the scent of bread just out of the stone oven? Rizes Folklore Farmstead is a place where time seems to have stopped somewhere in the beginning of the past century and everything is like it used to be, way before modern amenities and resorts found their way to the island. Here you can see the farm animals living happy and free in the farm, help the women knead the bread and place it in the traditional stone oven, visit the organic vegetable garden or the dovecote, wander though the olive grove or the vineyard, peek inside the traditional farmhouse with its authentic furnishing and kitchen tools, take cooking classes and learn to make traditional phyllo dough. And when everything is said and done, take a seat in the restaurant and enjoy the delicious Greek recipes, exactly like the island mothers and grandmothers used to make them.
